For us, MUTVAQ carries a special emotion—tied to summer and winter breaks with our mother/grandmother in Glamoč, and to holidays when we gathered in great numbers to celebrate Bajram.

MUTVAQ is my family’s defiance—my mother’s and grandfather’s—who, in just 15 square meters, returned from safe Germany right after the war. Fleeing even the safety that Sarajevo offered, they set out for their plain—the only thing not burned and destroyed by the storm of war—to their MUTVAK, just behind the charred family stone house.

Their plain is my special love, and the days spent there are idyllic because we had everything—and needed nothing more.

My MUTVAQ is a house in a field, by a lake, on a mountain, along a river—any natural setting.

MUTVAQ is an escape from the concrete to the natural jungle.

MUTVAQ is whim, beauty, uniqueness, peace, a return to roots.

MUTVAQ is the memory of countless evenings with baked Glamoč potatoes from the oven, late-night gatherings, the noise of a dozen kids, and my mother’s incredible creativity in filling our time.

MUTVAQ is all our outings, pool play (back then the best thing we had), skinned knees, walks in Hrast and Busije.

MUTVAQ is far more than projects. It’s emotion, idea, and realization.
